Acceptance Sampling Plans

Purpose:
This course will provide a basic understanding to attribute and varible sampling. No prior knowledge or special math background is required so this course also serves as an excellent introduction to acceptance sampling.

Course Objective:

What is Acceptance Sampling?
Acceptance Sampling is used to make dispositions on accepting or rejecting a lot (or batch) of product that has already been produced. A sample of product is used to determine acceptability. Acceptance Sampling includes Attribute Sampling, which makes accept / reject decisions based on the number of defectives within a lot and Variable Sampling, with makes accept / reject
decisions based on measurement values.

  • Understand ANSI Z1.4 (MIL-STD-105E) and ANSI Z1.9 (MIL-STD-414).
  • How to select new sampling plans based on the desired protection.
  • How to use and read the Operating Characteristic Curve or OC Curve.
  • How to evaluate the protection provided by your current sampling plan.
  • How to reduce costs using double and variable sampling plans.

SPC

  • Discussion of process variability and identifying the group of individuals responsible for each type of variability.
  • Different graphical techniques will be covered.
  • Discussion of the steps in Statistical Process Control.
  • Define the characteristics of a process that is operating in state of statistical control.
  • The elements of SPC system are discussed.
  • Define the preparation for use of control charts.
  • Implement control charts for X-bar and r, individuals, np, u, and c charts.
  • A discussion of other available types of control charts.
